Lee Michael Homes Wins 8 Awards for This Custom Home Parade of Homes Entry
So what architectural style would we label this latest Lee Michael Homes design entered into the Homes of Enchantment Albuquerque Parade of Homes? In our newest custom home, we chose to mix-and-match several architectural and design styles that appeal to us and our homeowners. The end result was a Mid-Century modern creation inspired by Craftsman details with organic clean lines of box beams, brick walls, reclaimed wood ceilings, stained glass, and designed around the available natural outdoor spaces, bringing the outside in, with massive covered wrap-around porches.
At the 2017 Fall Land of Enchantment Parade of Homes winners ceremony in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lee Michael Homes received 8 total awards for their custom home entry! We are proud to show you this award winning home in the Spring 2018 Parade of Homes tour of open houses.
Taking a step back to understand American architectural styles and what inspired what… first came Prairie-style, followed by Ranch-style, and Craftsman-style in the late 1800’s. Mid-Century modern took from these styles, and is a collection of the best of all of these home designs and was given birth roughly around the 1940’s.
Frank Lloyd Wright, the father of the Prairie style, said that in modern U.S. architecture, form no longer followed function: Form was function. The Prairie, or Craftsman style, was a stripped down architectural design… slightly ornate with use of exotic woods and stone and glass to give it an upscale feel. Mid-Century modern took on a simplistic direction of this by cleaning it up a bit, and simplifying the design. Mid-Century modern is a very organic and contemporary design, with a no-fuss transparent feel.
Form, function and comfort are inherent in this new custom home, which centers around family and effective use of space. The true focus is on the open living spaces, backyard lifestyles, and high-tech kitchens with windows to the outside so as not to miss anything going on with the family.
Lee Michael Homes is constantly striving to design smarter and more efficient custom “Green” homes that represent the lifestyle changes of today and tomorrow. We understand that both the physical and psychological needs of our clients and homeowners should be represented in the dwelling in which they reside.
Whatever your architectural preference, we can do it!
